Zürich Tip: Where to Grab a Coffee with Kids?

The smell of freshly brewing coffee, subtle quiche notes and an mist of chalk floating in the air – all this can be found in the family friendly venue: Kafi für Dich, in Zürich.

It is situated in Kreis 4, just opposite the Bäckeranlage - a lovely park, where an after-coffee stroll is definitely recommended.

The place is quite magical and describes itself to be a mixture of “a bistro, bar, café, neighbourhood meet-up point, kids corner, culture centre and gallery”. The clientele is as mixed as the venue’s offering: from students, to business people, to parents accompanied by their offspring – everyone will find a place for themselves here.

Upon entering, you are immediately greeted by a smiling and energetic member of staff. You can hear the buzzing of adult conversations and the distinct laughter and babbling of child play.

Not coincidentally: Kafi für Dich is designed especially to accommodate adult- and child- exchange. At the front of the venue you will find the restaurant area (lets call it the ‘adult zone’). Towards the back there is a ‘kids zone’, fitted with a massive chalkboard, rocking horse and a bunch of toys - all the things needed to keep your kids busy while you enjoy the delicious coffee and healthy lunch.

The menu is rather simple, with a selection of cakes, salads, quiches, soups, paninis and meals of the day. Everything is light and healthy. It has to be noted, however, that there is no dedicated kiddie-menu.

Saturday and Sunday brunches (09:00 – 14:30) are very popular here, so be sure to make a reservation in advance. With a broad selection of yumminess, adults pay 27CHF, kids 1CHF per year of age :)

I’m a personal fan of the place. What did you think of it?
