As a parent raising my little ones here in Zurich, I know how important it is to find engaging, fun, and meaningful activities for children. Whether you’re living here full-time or just visiting Zurich with kids, it can feel overwhelming to know where to go, what’s available, and how to keep your children happy, learning, and social.
That’s exactly why I love being part of Academicus – it is our family’s go-to place for kids’ activities in Zurich. What makes it so special is the wide range of options for every age, from newborns to school kids, plus the fact that you can either sign up for a full term or simply book a one-off class if you’re looking for something spontaneous. (Just a little tip from me: registration in advance is required because classes fill up quickly!)
Weekday Activities for Kids in Zurich
When my children were babies, I was always on the lookout for activities that weren’t just about “passing time” but truly supported their development. At Academicus, the Sensory for Babies and Motoric Fun for Babies classes gave me exactly that: gentle, stimulating environments where my little ones could explore, discover, and connect with me and the world around them.
As toddlers, my kids craved more independence and play. That’s where Sensory for Toddlers and the multilingual playgroups (in English, Polish, and Spanish) became our go to activities.
Sensory for Toddlers is a wonderful parent & child class we could do together with my kids, and enjoy quality time with music, movement & Montessori wisdom. And the playgroups are just fabulous! They are designed not only for fun but also for helping children prepare for kindergarten – making friends, building confidence, and developing important life skills. Children can try a trial morning first, and then sign up for the term. I love that the consistency helps children settle in and grow and the teachers are just beyond wonderful!
Once kids enter kindergarten and school, the needs change again. At Academicus, my older child joined the Primary School English Club, Afternoon Playgroup, and even Reading & Writing (Phonics Club). These activities are perfect for supporting language development, literacy, and social connections outside of school. And honestly – my child loved it.
Weekends at Academicus are something truly special. As a family, we’ve enjoyed:
Creative Storytime (sometimes with ballet and live music!)
Arts & Crafts sessions
Family Parties to celebrate everything from Australia Day to the start of the school year
Family Concerts with LIVE music!
Sensory for Babies & Toddlers
Superhero Sports classes
---just to name a few!
These sessions aren’t just fun – they’re designed to build confidence, language skills, creativity, and a love for learning. And as a parent, it feels so good to spend quality time together doing something meaningful.
If you’re in Zurich during the school holidays and looking for the best activities for kids, I can’t recommend the Holiday Adventure Camps enough. My kids came home every day with big smiles, full of stories about their adventures. The camps include:
Storytime
Sports
Arts & crafts
Daily excursions around Zurich
They’re a perfect balance of fun and education – keeping kids active, engaged, and happy all week long. Also, the flexibility with signing up is great! You can sign up for the full week or for your favourite day - so it is a great option for families with kids who are visting Zurich (and not living here)!
