Are we dumbing down our children?

Did you know that right now your child is a genius? But what about in 5 years time?
In the 1960s NASA posed the question: " how do we hire more geniuses?"
They commissioned George Land to research what makes a genius, defined as: how you use your creative imagination to solve problems.
George Land's 1968 NASA study revealed startling insights about creativity in children, showing how our natural creative abilities decline with age. In this study, he tested 1,600
children aged 4-5 and found that 98% displayed "genius-level" creativity.
However, as they grew older, only 30% of 10-year-olds, 12% of 15 year olds and a mere 2% of adults retained this creative potential.
How do we take a population that has 98% genius rates and dumb it down to 2%?
Land said that "uncreative behaviour is learned"...
The study underlined the importance of nurturing creativity from a young age, as children are naturally creative thinkers. Activities that encourage free play, exploration, and problem-solving help to sustain this creativity into adulthood.
This resonates with the mission we have at Academicus, where we offer programs designed to help children flourish intellectually and creatively from infancy onward.
